Super School Lunch Sessions
We’re halfway through our six weeks of Summer School Lunch Sessions…and we’re breaking records!
Last week, we had 100 people signed in – 33 adults and 67 children. Every family left with a school lunch pack, home cooked meal and cooking pack. There were eight different craft and activity tables on the go with some fabulous creations.
The sessions, which run every Wednesday of the Summer holidays from 11am to 1pm at the Borehamwood Foodbank at St Teresa’s Church on Shenley Road, have gone from strength to strength. And, in addition to the food, activities and great company, over the past three weeks, families have been able to put in an order for free school uniform as well, which they’ll get in time for next term.
These Summer sessions are in addition to the twice-weekly foodbank sessions that run year-round. The regular sessions are on Monday afternoons and Thursday mornings and are open for anyone in need of food and support. They’re run by friendly, local volunteers and wouldn’t be possible without them and the generous donations.
If you have school age children, please pop along on 11, 18 and 25 August to pick up your free school lunch pack and to get involved in some fun family activities.
