On 2 September, 2021, Town Mayor, Counsellor Farida Turner, visited one of the busy, twice-weekly sessions at the Borehamwood Foodbank to learn more about the services it offers and how it supports people in need.
In May 2021, Counsellor Turner named the Borehamwood Foodbank Mayoral Charity of the Year for the amazing work it does and how it stepped up to help people in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On her visit, she said:
“Today’s visit has shown me just how much the volunteers here, do. It’s not just about providing food. So much thought has gone into how the team can make peoples’ lives better – from the friendly reception each and every person gets when they walk through the door, to the free school uniforms and Summer activities.”
She also gave her thanks to the volunteers that make these sessions such as success.
