Helping people in the run up to Christmas

20th December 2021

Christmas can be the happiest time of the year, but for many, the past few months and years have been hard. Far too many people in our community are having to make the unenviable choice between having to heat their homes, or feed themselves and their families.

We are fortunate to have support from generous donors at different points throughout the year, but people and organisations have really come together to collect food and donate it to our clients over the past few weeks.

In the past month alone, we’ve had:

  • Over 700 items collected by Radlett Reform Synagogue as part of its Mitzvah Day event
  • 1.25 tonnes of food from Taylor Wimpey
  • A tonne of food from Mill Hill County High School
  • 245kg of food from customers of Edgware-based clothing boutique, Harpers Boutique
  • A Sainsbury’s Helping Everyone Eat Better Community Grant
  • Hertfordshire County Council has given a generous donation towards our Christmas hampers
  • Hertsmere Borough Council has given us a donation, which means we can continue our winter wellness project – offering fuel grants, duvets, sheets and flasks – into the New Year

Thank you to each and every donor and volunteer that keeps the Foodbank up and running so we can continue to offer support to local people in need.
