Our local MP, Sir Oliver Dowden, visited our Foodbank in Sept 2026

On 23rd Sept 2026, we were delighted to welcome our local MP, Rt Hon Sir Oliver Dowden KCB CBE MP, to our Foodbank.  We spoke about Trussell’s National ‘Guarantee our Essentials’ campaign and presented him with several cards that support this initiative, lobbying the UK Government to provide further financial support to those living in crisis.  So many people struggle with the cost of living, whilst the current benefit system still leaves many unable to pay for the essentials in life including food, energy and housing.

We spoke about the specific challenges that our Foodbank faces in the Borough of Hertsmere.  We also informed him about our mission to lift people out of crisis, reducing reliance on our services by providing our own holistic and financial support – an area where we have had heartwarming successes in recent years.

We hope Sir Oliver will help share this message to the wider community in Westminster.  We thank him for his visit and hope it was both informative and interesting.
